How phishing attacks work

Phishing sites are designed to look like legitimate services to trick you into entering your 12-word secret phrase or approving a malicious transaction.

Common delivery methods:

  • Google or social media ads impersonating official wallet sites

  • DMs on Telegram, Discord, or X from fake support agents

  • Fake airdrop or token claim pages requiring wallet connection

  • Search results ranking above the legitimate site due to paid placement

How to report to the domain registrar

  1. Go to whois.com and enter the suspicious URL

  2. Scroll to find the Registrar Abuse Contact Email

  3. Send a report with:

    • The exact phishing URL

    • A screenshot showing how it impersonates a legitimate service

    • The wallet address it directs funds to

    • Transaction hashes if funds were already sent
